Our 2024 climate report - transparency for a sustainable future

Climate change is one of the most important challenges of our time, and we at Boomr Group AB take our responsibility seriously. That's why we are proud to present our 2024 Climate Report - a transparent accounting of our greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) standard.

Why we measure our emissions

You cannot improve what you do not measure. This is the starting point for our systematic climate work. Mapping our emissions gives us a clear picture of where we stand and what areas we need to focus on to reduce our climate impact.

The result in brief

In 2024, our total emissions amounted to 286 tonnes of CO₂e, which corresponds to the annual carbon footprint of about 29 people. Our emissions intensity ended up at 75.3 tonnes of CO₂e per million euros of turnover.

One thing we're particularly proud of is our low direct emissions - just 0.45 tonnes CO₂e, or 0,2 % of our total footprint. This is a direct result of our commitment to an electrified vehicle fleet.

How our emissions are distributed

Scope 1 - Direct emissions (0.45 tonnes CO₂e)
Our direct emissions come exclusively from small amounts of diesel use. Thanks to our electric cars, we have managed to keep this figure to a minimum.

Scope 2 - Purchased energy (14.98 tonnes CO₂e)
This includes electricity consumption in our office and the charging of our five electric cars. We use market-based method for the calculation, with Nordic residual mix as emission factor, which gives a true picture of the climate impact of our energy use.

Scope 3 - Indirect emissions (271 tonnes CO₂e)
The largest part of our carbon footprint comes from our supply chain - purchased goods and services, IT support, office supplies and business travel. This is common for service companies and shows where our continued focus needs to be.

The way forward

The Climate Scoreboard is not just a report - it is a starting point for further improvement. With this knowledge, we can now:

  • Continue to develop our electrified vehicle fleet
  • Actively work with our suppliers to reduce emissions in the value chain
  • Making informed choices about business travel and purchasing
  • Setting concrete targets for emission reductions

Transparency as a basis

We believe in transparency. By sharing our climate disclosure, we show not only where we stand, but also that we take responsibility for our impact. Download the climate change report here. It is a promise to our customers, employees and partners that sustainability is at the centre of how we run our business.

Annex - GHG Protocol

All calculations and reporting of Boomr Group AB's greenhouse gas emissions in this climate report are carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the GHG Protocol (Corporate Standard and Corporate Value Chain Standard). The GHG Protocol is the most widely used and recognised international standard for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. We follow the principles of the standard: Relevance, Completeness, Comparability, Transparency and Accuracy.

GHG emissions are categorised into different scopes (Scope 1, 2 & 3) based on the context in which the emissions occur.

  • Scope 1 - Includes the direct emissions of the company and over which the company has direct control. Ex: staff car on duty.
  • Scope 2 - Includes the company's indirect emissions. E.g.: consumption of electricity, cooling and district heating.
  • Scope 3 - Includes all other indirect emissions, upstream and downstream in the value chain.

In this climate change report, the Scope 3 categories deemed relevant to the business have been quantified and reported.

Biogenic emissions

Biogenic emissions occur when biofuels are burnt for purposes such as heating, district heating and transport. Today, however, only emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels are considered to contribute to the greenhouse effect, as biofuels are estimated to absorb as much carbon dioxide as is emitted when they are burned, the biogenic carbon dioxide emissions. According to the GHG Protocol and the national climate reporting, biogenic carbon dioxide emissions must be reported together with fossil carbon dioxide emissions.

Below, the biogenic carbon dioxide emissions are presented alongside the fossil fuel emissions in scope 1.

CategoryDischarge
CO₂e emissions Scope 10.45 tCO₂e
Biogenic emissions Scope 10.00288 tCO₂e

Calculation methods for greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 2

According to the GHG Protocol, scope 2 emissions can be calculated using the following methods:

  • Market-based method - distinguishing between origin-labelled purchased electricity, heating or cooling and unspecified.
  • Location-based method - where the emission factor for the entire supply in the power, heating or cooling network is used.

According to the GHG Protocol, the chosen method must be declared and the emissions with alternative method must be reported separately. Boomr Group AB has applied Market-based method. The table below summarises Scope 2 emissions according to each method.

MethodologyDischarge
CO₂e emissions Market-based Scope 214.98 tCO₂e
CO₂e emissions Location-based Scope 22.02 tCO₂e

The climate accounts have been produced in accordance with the GHG Protocol and with the support of the ImpactOS calculation platform. The calculations are based on the organisation's activity data in combination with emission factors from ImpactOS and supplementary activity- and supplier-specific emission factors where more precise data was available. The market-based method has been used for Scope 2 with Sweden's residual mix in 2023 as the emission factor.
